Local History Marcia Fritz, the owner, is a direct descendent of two pioneer family that settled in Sacramento. Her great great grandparents (Fred and Julia Volle) arrived at Sutter's Fort in 1853, raised chickens, sold the chicken farm in 1858 to the State of California (now the site of the State Capital building), and purchased 320 acres in Citrus Heights. Her family later donated a portion of the farm property and the family residence to the County of Sacramento in 1955 (now Rusch Park and the historical Rusch/Volle Home).

Another great great grandfather (Rudolph Lauppe I) purchased the 14 Milehouse and 320 acres on Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights in 1860 after saving for years as a Swiss guard to the King of Italy. Rudolph Lauppe II built the first farmer's phone line to Citrus Heights in 1902, and acted as chairman until its transfer to Roseville Telephone in 1920. Her family previously farmed in the Natomas Basin and several have served on the various boards of local companies over many years.

In continuing her family's commitment to community volunteerism and support of local programs, Marcia Fritz raised local contributions to celebrate the grand opening of the newly-renovated historical Rusch/Volle Home on June 2, 1992. The outpouring of support encouraged her to spearhead the creation of a nonprofit organization to support our local parks. This nonprofit organization, "Hearts for Parks" sponsors, among other events, the annual DRUG-FREE RALLY in Rusch Park on Red Ribbon day each October.
